5 Tips for Meal Prepping

Meal prepping is one of the most, if not THE most, important thing you can do when it comes to staying on track with your health and wellness goals. Some find this to be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be! I actually enjoy it and almost find it relaxing. It’s all in how you look at it!

With that being said, let’s take a look at some of my top tips when it comes to meal prepping:

  1. Create your meal plan for the week: Make a plan for each meal of the week, including snacks. Look up some of your favorite recipes, and make sure they aren’t too difficult, or you’ll have a tough time sticking with your plan!

  2. Stick to your grocery list: Once you have your meal plan, you’ll need to create your grocery list. Stick to ONLY the items on your list, this will ensure you avoid any of those junk food items. I recommend doing your grocery shopping on a different day than your meal prep, so you’re not too overwhelmed. I typically grocery shop on Saturday’s, and meal prep on Sunday’s.

  3. Find shortcuts: There are several items you can simply purchase in the store that will save you time while meal prepping. For example, rather than chopping all of your veggies, purchase pre-cut or frozen veggies. Purchase a rotisserie chicken, and chop/shred the chicken for meals throughout the week, no cooking needed! Hard boiled eggs are a great snack option, rather than boiling the eggs yourself, buy a package of hard boiled eggs and you have a great grab and go snack.

  4. Chop/Cook/Slice: Do this all at once! Make all of your snacks/breakfasts/lunches all at once along with anything you can prep for dinner as well. Putting off any part of your meal prep, will likely result in you not doing it all! While something is baking in the oven, you can be chopping fruits and veggies for snacks!

  5. Make meal prep fun!: Put on your favorite tunes, tv show or podcast and you will enjoy the process SO much more! I find that time flies when I’m meal prepping and watching my favorite shows. You’ll find the process enjoying and relaxing in no time!

Whether your new to meal prepping or a seasoned pro, these tips will help with the process! I follow these tips each week and meal prep has become a breeze. If you try one or all of these tips, please let me know, I’d love to hear how things go!
