My 6 Tips for a Productive Week as a Busy Mom

Busy? Overwhelmed? Trying to balance all your priorities, but can’t seem to get anything accomplished? Sound like you, mama? This used to be me too! Every day I would wake up and think of the long to-do list I had, and always felt like I was starting the week behind, rather than ahead. As someone who prefers organization and structure, I decided enough was enough!

So, what did I do? I made Sunday’s my day for planning and organizing for the week ahead. I knew in order to minimize stress throughout the week, I had to do the things that made me feel more accomplished at teh start of the week and set myself up for success.

Now your list may look different than mine, and that’s ok! I want you to think about the things that make you feel productive and focus on achieving those tasks before the busy work week! While I do most of my “to-dos” on Sunday, these can also be done on Saturday, or a mix of both Saturday and Sunday, you choose what works best for YOU!

  • Wash all the bedding in the house. There’s something about clean sheets, blanket, comforters, etc. that just make me feel good! I love starting the week off this way, and love hopping into bed Sunday night to the feeling of clean sheets!

  • Meal plan for the week ahead. I ALWAYS know what’s for dinner during the week (and typically breakfast too) If I don’t know what we’re having for dinner, I’m racing around the kitchen trying to figure out what to throw together and it causes unnecessary stress. I also can’t plan my groceries for the week if I don’t know what we’re eating, leading to excess trips to the grocery store!

  • Grocery shopping. I am way too busy during the week to run to the store, and we are typically running low on groceries by Sunday of each week, so I order my groceries on either Friday evening or Saturday afternoon. Did you notice I said order? I don’t have the time (or patience) to grocery shop, especially with a toddler, so I make my life easier and just order everything online (typically from Target!). This also is a money saver, as I don’t find myself throwing items in the cart we don’t actually need!

  • Catch up on all laundry. Starting the week off with multiple loads of laundry is just asking to be stressed out. I would rather do a few loads during the day on Sunday, instead of spending half my day on Monday catching up! You’ll feel so much better knowing you’re starting the week with a clean slate.

  • Clean out the fridge and pantry. One of my biggest pet peeves is having old food/leftovers in the fridge and a messy, unorganized pantry! There’s nothing worse than getting your groceries and having nowhere to put them, or shoving things in your pantry where they don’t belong causing unnecessary clutter. This is why I spend some time throwing out old produce, leftovers and anything else that may have expired from the fridge. I then “tidy up” the pantry to make sure everything is in the right place and well organized.

  • Plan and schedule out the week. Every Sunday evening I get out my planner(s) and plan for the week ahead! My favorite way to do this is using my planner packs as it has ALL the resources to keep me on track for the week (including habit trackers, daily plans, to-do list’s, and MORE). I love feeling like all parts of my life are organized and planned out for a busy week ahead.

And there you have it! 6 tips for starting the week off on a more productive note! I would love to hear if you implement any of these routines or snag your planners for an even more productive and organized life because we all know us mamas could use all the help we can get in that area! #momlife
